Render cost

How much does a 3D render cost: studio or AI?

The price of a render depends on who makes it and how much control you need. Here is what drives a studio’s price, what a render costs with AI, and which one suits each stage of a project.

What a rendering studio charges

Studio prices vary widely. What moves them:

  • Realism: a draft or concept image costs a fraction of a photorealistic one.
  • Complexity of the scene: furniture, vegetation, people, materials matched to a manufacturer.
  • Modelling: if the studio builds the 3D model, it is part of the price; bringing your own lowers it.
  • Revisions: one or two are usually included; each extra round is charged.
  • Urgency, resolution and the number of views.

Where a studio is better

  • Final marketing images, where every detail has to be controlled.
  • Animations, virtual tours, VR.
  • Exact materials from a given manufacturer, matched in colour.
  • When there is no 3D model or sketch yet and modelling is needed too.

Where AI is better

  • Concepts and working images, where speed matters.
  • Finish and light options for the client, the same day.
  • Every view of a project at once.
  • Frequent iterations, where a studio would bill each revision.
